Dover City Council 2023 Candidates Summary
Foster’s Daily Democrat recently published their City Council candidate questionnaires. I’ve gathered the links here and noted which seat each person is running for to help ease those sorting through which they need to read for their ward. Each voter can cast votes for Mayor, their Ward Council representation, and two At Large City Councilors. I encourage you to carefully consider the responses candidates provided and consider attending the candidates forum on Oct. 31 if you have questions. Many candidates will also be out and about canvassing but might not make it to your door given the size of our City. Local elections might not seem as flashy as State or Federal, but they have a huge impact on our day to day lives. I hope to earn your vote and see you at the polls on November 7th!
Mayor – Robert (Bob) Carrier (uncontested)
At Large – Lindsey Williams (incumbent), Linnea Nemeth (incumbent), Bret Carmichael, Daniel Furman
Ward 1 – April Richer & Jesse Davies
Ward 2 – Robert (Robbie) Warach (incumbent) & Timothy J. Casey
Ward 3 – Anthony (Tony) Retrosi & Eric Spurling
Ward 4 – Debra Hackett (incumbent) & Denis Grenier
Ward 5 – Dennis Shanahan (incumbent, uncontested)
Ward 6 – Fergus Cullen (incumbent, uncontested)
There will also be a City Council* candidates forum hosted by the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce and Dover Listens on Oct. 31 from 6:00pm-8:30pm at the McConnell Center – visit the Chamber website for more information. *There are no contested School Board races this year so there is not a separate Forum being organized for those races.
Election hours run 7am-7pm – don’t forget to double check your polling location and make a plan to vote! The City election information page is also a great one to bookmark!
